Celebrity Makeup Artist Shakes-It

Diana Solomon —top US makeup artist— shared stories from behind the scenes, her very own beauty tips and tales of how she became the person she is today.
Diana has worked with a very large variety of clientele; brides, actors, models, comedians, etc. When asked who the most famous celebrity she ever worked with, Diana’s responded, “Miss Piggy on the Today Show.” And she wasn’t kidding!


Known for applying natural makeup, Diana uses Erno Laszlo’s Regular Normalizer Shake-It as a base on all of her clients— men, women and teens. She explained how well it works with everyone’s skin type and how natural it looks and feels. It minimizes pores so they don’t show up on or off camera. Diana pointed out, the excess color on top of the Shake-It bottle works as a fantastic tool to cover blemishes evenly. She even told us that she used Shake-It to fill in a nose piercing for head shot photographs.


Even though Diana works with celebrities, actors and models quite often, she still very much enjoys doing makeup for brides on their wedding day. She said “I love making women look beautiful for their family and friends whether getting married on television or in their backyard.” As a tip for brides, Diana expressed, it’s most important to not over-do it on the big day. She feels that natural makeup looks better in person and in photographs.


Diana began her career in retail, as a makeup artist for Saks Fifth Avenue, New York. Being a freelance artist, Diana participated in independent films, commercials and TV shows. Since 2001, Diana has continued to work for Saturday Night Live. She’s been involved in so many different aspects of the industry and Diana is still looking to take on new projects all the time.
