At this point, the rumor that eating chocolate somehow leads to bad skin has been pretty well put to rest but it is only recently that people have been claiming that it is actually good for your skin. More specifically focusing on the advantages of dark chocolate. Seeing as though trick or treating season is upon us, we thought we would share some benefits in the hopes that it will make us all feel a little less guilty about our sweet intake this month!
The most common assertion about dark chocolate's benefits is due to the high levels of antioxidants, which help protect the skin against free radicals, repair damage at the cellular level, as well as produce healthy, glowing skin. Additionally, because of the cocoa butter content, people are claiming that chocolate can help smooth and soften the facial skin - leaving behind a silky texture.
Some spas and beauty salons are going so far as to offer dark chocolate facials. While it is still questionable if the beauty benefits of chocolate can be absorbed topically - it certainly is an inviting idea!
