Silent Blemish Creators and Cures

Dr. Laszlo was dedicated to formulating the best acne treatment for his patients and understood the frustration and shame that can accompany problem skin. The line includes everything you need from acne cleansers to spot treatments and blemish reducing masks. However, while treatment is essential, it is also important to understand why these breakouts might occur and trust us they are not always obvious. The following are some silent skin killers you might not even realize are contributing to your breakouts.

Something to Talk About

Whether it is a job or a talkative family member that keeps you on the phone, that constant mouthpiece contact can cause breakouts around the mouth and chin line. Being conscious of holding the phone away from your face as well cleaning that area with antibacterial wipes can help to keep those breakouts at bay.

Dirty Dreams

When you lay your head down at night, you do not want to think that your pillow is a hotbed of bacteria but in fact this can be true. Pillow cases can contain dirt and oils that may lead to clogged pores and pimples. Make a point of washing your pillowcases as often as you can to avoid this problem.

Work It Out

It is hard to think that doing something good for your body can be bad for your skin, but sometimes the two are connected. If your New Years resolution has you hitting the gym, that is great but realize that bad skin habits at the gym can lead to problems. The two biggest causes: leaving makeup on during a workout and not rinsing your skin directly after a workout. Avoiding these two no-nos should have your body and skin looking great in no time.

Adult Acne

Most of us accept acne as an inevitable part of adolescence. We suffer through the embarrassment and the overly dramatic teenage response to a pimple and our reward is supposed to be clean, problem free skin thereafter. But we all know this is not the case and adult acne, whether severe or moderate, plagues and bewilders many of us. So to help clarify, we have compiled some common breakout triggers, see if you fit into any of them to have a better understanding of how to treat adult acne.

Stress Monger - Ok, this is a hard one to avoid to be honest. Unless you have recently become independently wealthy and can finally retire to a beach chair on your private island, you are probably going to encounter some stressful moments. The key is how you prep your skin to deal with them. So if you know that one of those stress induced days is ahead of you, first off, relax! Wash your skin with an acne cleanser and give your yourself a mini face and temple massage. Rinse and follow with an acne treatment and allow yourself a few deep breaths before facing the world.

Chatty Cathy - Not only has the prevalence of cell phones meant that you have to hear every joe schmo on the street's most intimate details, it also means we spend more time with a bacteria covered instrument pressed to our face. If you are guilty of this or have a job that keeps you constantly on the phone, then you might notice some blackheads and whiteheads begin to appear on your chin and cheeks. Try to give your skin a chance to breath by either switching ears or holding the phone slightly away from your face - meanwhile treat those breakouts with a spot treatment to dry up blemishes.

Bronze Beauty - Are you still searching for that endless summer glow - well you should probably stop! But if all the warnings are not enough, here's another: baking in the sun may be the cause of your blemishes. A large amount of exposure to the sun actually begins to thicken your skin, causing pores to clog and breakouts to begin. Another element is that many SPF related products tend to make matters worse. So number one, get under an umbrella! And then look for an moisturizer for oily skin with SPF to protect yourself from the elements.
