September: Fig Month

The fig is one of the earliest fruits to be cultivated by man, and for good reason! This nutrient-packed fruit is so nutritious that it is believed that man can survive healthily on figs alone. Figs are rich in calcium, potassium, vitamin B6, iron, and magnesium. They provide more fiber than any other fruit or vegetable ad are also rich in pectin, a soluble fiber that helps reduce blood cholesterol. Figs have a very high water content and are therefore ideal to be used in skin care. Extract from figs has moisturizing properties similar to the skin's own and therefore is an excellent hydrator and skin tightener.
