HALLOWEEN: The one day of the year where you’re free to wear whatever makeup you want, including bold colors, glitter, and fake blood! But before you start adding mounds of goop to your face or another’s, be sure to take the following precautions…
You want to look your scary best on Halloween; you don’t want your skin to look (or feel) scary. To avoid a frightening rash or breakout, be sure to test some of the makeup on the inside of your elbow or forearm before putting it on your face, especially if you are using different makeup from your normal routine. So if you haven’t done so already, go test your makeup TODAY!
Prepare your face for the makeup fun by cleansing thoroughly. It is also a good idea to use primer under the makeup as a way to both protect your skin from the makeup chemicals and to create a smooth canvas for the makeup application. Erno Laszlo Timeless Skin and Intensive Décolleté Cream SPF 20 can both be used as primers.
At the end of the night, when you’ve had your share of treats and trickery, you’ll probably be tempted to simply fall into bed, glitter and all. Don’t be fooled! Take the time to remove makeup completely before calling it a night. Use a gentle makeup remover (try the Multi-pHase Makeup Remover) and then wash your face. For particularly hard-to-remove makeup try heating a damp wash cloth and placing it on the face for several minutes before cleansing. Adding a few drops of essential oils, such as the Active Phelityl Oil, will help soothe skin after being in contact with the harsh makeup chemicals.
Finally, don’t forget to moisturize (HydrapHel Intensive is packed with vitamins to help soothe and repair skin) before falling into a deep sleep, when hopefully nothing goes “bump in the night”!
